Pretoria Capitals strike back

The Pretoria Capitals avenged their loss to the Joburg Super Kings at the Wanderers with a six-wicket win in Centurion.

The Super Kings looked set for a score of 200-plus when Faf du Plessis (51 off 22 balls) was at the crease but his dismissal saw them collapse from 70-2 at the start of the seventh over to 122 all out in 15.4 overs.

Anrich Nortje (3-12) and Jimmy Neesham (3-7) did most of the damage with the ball, while Neesham also took one of the best catches of the summer.

The Super Kings made a nightmare start to their innings when Eathan Bosch had Reeza Hendricks caught behind first ball, before Du Plessis and Leus de Plooy (14) produced a 53-run partnership.

But once they departed, the vistors had no answer to the pace of Nortje, the swing of Neesham, and the spin of Adil Rashid (2-25).

HIGHLIGHTS: Pretoria Capitals vs Joburg Super Kings

The Super Kings needed early wickets if they were to defend their below-par target but English opening pair Phil Salt (52* off 30 balls) and Will Jacks (34 off 16) hit 46 runs in just 3.4 overs for the Pretoria Capitals.

The visitors’ hopes were raised when Theunis de Bruyn was bizarrely run out by Alzarri Joseph without scoring.

There were further hiccups when Rilee Rossouw (11) and Shane Dadswell (18) fell, but the victory was never in doubt with Salt powering the Capitals to the top of the log.
