Williamson ton puts NZ on top

Kane Williamson scored 129 to New Zealand the ascendency in their Test against Pakistan.

Williamson, who was unbeaten on 94 overnight, got to his 23rd Test century on a wicket that gradually became more unpredictable in its bounce.

Meanwhile, Henry Nicholls built on his strong form, scoring 56. BJ Watling (73) and Kyle Jamieson (32) shared a partnership that pushed the Black Caps into a dominant position, scoring 431. Shaheen Afridi was the pick of the Pakistan bowlers with figures of 4-109.

Pakistan were rocked by the early dismissal of Shan Masood, but they managed the pressure of a tricky 20-over period before the close of play well, finishing 30/1.
