Nicholls’ knock puts NZ in control

Henry Nicholls scored an unbeaten century as New Zealand took control in the second Test against the West Indies.

Nicholls is 117* at stumps, which contributed significantly to a team total of 294/6. There were solid contributions from Willy Young (43) and Daryl Mitchell (42).

The Windies’ bowlers toiled hard on a wicket that got progressively better to bat on. Shannon Gabriel was the pick of the tourists’ bowlers, ending the day with 3/57. Chemar Holder took 2/65.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, the Windies will be hoping to make quick work of the remaining Kiwi wickets and get to batting on a deck that should be good for their batsmen.
