Piedt and Prince support Domingo

Dane Piedt and Ashwell Prince believe that it is ridiculous that Russell Domingo needs to re-apply for his role as Proteas coach.

The Cobras captain, Piedt, and his coach, Prince, took to twitter to express their thoughts on the news that Domingo will have to re-apply for his job at the end of July’s Test series in England. CSA announced on Saturday that they will be inviting applications for the post of Proteas coach despite their recent run of form.

Domingo’s job was under scrutiny following the Proteas’ series defeats to India and England and a disappointing World T20 campaign, but SA have since found team cohesiveness and have racked up great performances. They achieved a Test series win over New Zealand, Australia and Sri Lanka as well as a 5-0 whitewash in ODIs against Australia. However, it seems that recent performances have not guaranteed his position as head coach of the Proteas, and the board have begun the process of finding a replacement.

Piedt took to Twitter on Monday in support of Domingo despite not being in his current plans for international selection.

Prince replied agreeing with the Cobras and former Proteas spinner.

After destroying Sri Lanka in the first ODI, the Proteas will aim for a win in their second ODI at Centurion on Wednesday.
