• Zondo ton puts Dolphins in strong position

    Khaya Zondo scored a brilliant century as the Dolphins posted 389-8 in their first innings against the Cape Cobras in Durban.

    Zondo started the day on 66 and kicked on with his strong batting start on Monday as the Dolphins piled on the runs against the men from Cape Town.

    The Dolphins declared on Tuesday afternoon after Zondo departed for 105 before the Cobras got their first innings under way.

    Pieter Malan (33) and Zubayr Hamza (22) guided the Cobras to 71-1 at the stumps with Isma-eel Gafieldien back in the hut after departing for only 13.

    In Centurion, the Titans were bowled out for 320 after Aiden Markram’s spectacular 149, but the Warriors did an excellent job with the bat with Mohammed Vallie (80), Lesiba Ngoepe (52) and an unbeaten 67 by Sinethemba Queshile guiding the men from Port Elizabeth to 319-6 at stumps – a single run behind the Titans’ first-innings total.

    At the Wanderers, the Knights opened up a 209-run lead over the Lions after posting 300 in their first innings before dismissing the Johannesburg outfit for only 202.

    Migael Pretorius once again starred with the ball by posting 4-40, while Gerald Coetzee and Mbulelo Budaza each contributed two wickets of their own.

    The Knights finished the day on 111-1 in their second innings – Jonathan Vandiar unbeaten on 53 and Raynard van Tonder also still at the crease on 39.
