Batting coach Marcus Trescothick says England will not change their aggressive batting approach despite another day where they were dominated by Australia’s pace attack.
After being beaten inside two days in the first Ashes Test in Perth, England are staring down the barrel of another loss when play resumes in the second Test in Brisbane on Sunday.
At the close of the third day’s play in the pink ball day-night Test, England were 134-6 in their second innings, still 43 runs from making Australia bat again.
Just like in Perth and in the first innings in Brisbane, many of England’s batsmen fell driving to balls on the up, resulting in them either being caught behind or caught and bowled.

Trescothick stressed that England would keep playing the same way despite criticism that their “Bazball” attacking approach doesn’t work on the bouncier Australian wickets.
“We’re trying to play the way that we want to play,” he said. “And we want to try and utilise that in the best possible fashion. It doesn’t mean we always get it right of course.”
Trescothick said there was method to England’s play.
“We’re trying to apply pressure. We’re trying to put bowlers off their length and we’ve done that really well for periods of time,” he said. “In the time this team has been together it’s been tested so far, and we’ll keep working at trying to make it better.
“I think you’ve got to have a style of play that you sort of stick to, don’t you? “We’ve built the team the way that we want to build the team and we trust in the guys that we have that we know they are good enough.
“We’ve been put under pressure in various phases in the last two games and of course that’s been challenging.”
