The Northerns Titans clinched a 13-run DLS win over Boland in a One-Day Cup thriller in Centurion on Sunday.
Rain reduced the contest to 28 overs a side, with Boland captain Clyde Fortuin opting to bowl first.
The Titans adapted superbly, posting 235-5. Lhuan-dre Pretorius led the charge with a magnificent 101 off 74 balls (12 fours, three sixes), pacing his innings smartly before accelerating in the latter stages.
Keegan Petersen added 30 off 23 balls and Rivaldo Moonsamy 22 off 31, before Keagan Lion-Cachet hit 37* off 19 balls and Dayyaan Galiem 28 off 14 balls to power the hosts beyond 200.
Boland’s chase was trimmed to 22 overs under DLS and they finished on 213-9.
Grant Roelofsen counter-attacked with 62 off 38 balls, while Imran Manack’s explosive 49 off 17 threatened to swing the game late on. Contributions from Lehan Botha (20), Ferisco Adams (18) and Keith Dudgeon (12) kept them in the hunt.
However, Duan Jansen (2-19) and Galiem (2-27) delivered disciplined spells, and Neil Brand removed Roelofsen at a crucial stage as Boland fell 13 runs short.
At the Pietermaritzburg Oval, the North West Dragons thrashed the KZN Inland Tuskers by 72 runs.
The Dragons compiled 291-7 after being sent in to bat.
Meeka-eel Prince anchored the innings with 61 off 76 balls, while Dian Forrester added 68 off 67. Ruan de Swardt’s 34* off 28 provided late impetus to push the total towards 300.
In reply, the Tuskers were bowled out for 219 in 46 overs.
Malcolm Nofal top-scored with 66 off 86 balls, while Ben Compton and Wayne Parnell made useful contributions in the 30s, but partnerships proved fleeting.
Onke Nyaku produced the decisive spell, returning career-best figures of 6-41 in 7.2 overs to dismantle the chase and claim his maiden List A five-for. Caleb Seleka supported well, conceding just 23 runs as the Dragons sealed a comprehensive victory.
