• T10 Morkel welcomes ‘new chapter in my life’

Former Proteas fast bowler Morne Morkel is looking forward to a maiden stint in the T10 League in the United Arab Emirates later this year.

The participant in 86 Tests, 117 ODIs and 44 T20Is during a 12-year international career, Morkel will represent the Bengal Tigers in the short format.

‘Last year I followed the first season quite closely. I was speaking to the guys and watched a lot of Youtube videos.’ the Khaleej Times quoted Morkel as saying.

‘I think it’s exciting for me now to start a new chapter in my life. It gives me a great opportunity to learn new things and improve my skills.

‘I’d still like to play a lot more T20 cricket, but it will also be a great platform for me to sharpen my skills.

“I always look to improve my game and get better. I think this is the perfect platform for me to help my team win the trophy.’

Bengal will be captained by Englishman Sam Billings, and boast the services of Bangladesh big-hitter Tamim Iqbal and West Indian spinner Sunil Narine among others.

‘I am just excited to be a part of a new family. Fantastic people, and yeah, I am really excited about playing for this team,’ added Morkel.
