• Stuurman gets Proteas call

Glenton Stuurman has been named in fairly predictable Proteas’ white-ball squads for their series against England.

The Warriors’ seamer receives his first international call-up. There is also a recall for Titans paceman Junior Dala, who hasn’t played international cricket in close to two years.

Stuurman, 28, has played 31 List A matches, taking 40 wickets at an average of 25.25, an economy rate of 4.53 and a strike rate of 33.40. He has taken 15 wickets in 12 T20 matches at an average of 17.80, an economy of 6.67 and a strike rate of 16.

The Proteas will face England in three T20Is and three ODIs behind closed doors at Newlands and Boland Park.

A 24-man squad was named, which selection convenor Victor Mpitsang said gives them the opportunity to play inter-squad matches.

Cricket South Africa Director of Cricket Graeme Smith said: ‘This is an important season for the team, with a T20 World Cup coming up late next year in India. I’m sure that the T20 series in particular, is going to boast some explosive performances for cricket fans to enjoy at home.

‘An ODI series against the reigning world champions will always bring a level of excitement of its own. I’m looking forward to an exciting return to international cricket for our Proteas. We are also anticipating to have more good news to announce from the Proteas team soon.’
