Dale Steyn has been ruled out of the fourth Test at Centurion while Stiaan van Zyl has been released from the squad.

Quinton de Kock, who missed the Wanderers Test due to a knee injury he sustained while walking his dogs, will undergo a fitness test on Wednesday to determine his availability for the game.

South Africa will be playing for pride and some much needed confidence after they lost the series and their No 1-ranking after the third Test.

Van Zyl has been released after the selectors decided to call up Stephen Cook, who will now almost certainly open the batting. Steyn has been in a race against time to recover from his shoulder injury, but he won’t be risked in an attempt to get him fit for the ODI series.
