• Saints, St Charles march on towards T20 final

St Stithians and St Charles College continued their winning ways at the Schools T20 Challenge national finals to finish day two with four wins out of four each, writes THEO GARRUN.

Saints beat Hudson Park in their final pool game at Tuks’ LC De Villiers complex on Saturday morning to top their group and then got past Waterkloof in the first of their cross-pool games.

St Charles had no problems against Queens in their final pool game and then snuck home against Paarl Gimnasium in their cross pool matchup in a dramatic finish. For the second day in a row, Paarl Gim had to contest a super over after the sides were tied on 135 runs apiece after 20 overs.

They then both scored 17 in the extra over, which meant it went to a countback of boundaries hit. St Charles scored 17 and Gim 14, so the Maritzburg school retained its unbeaten record by a whisker, and with one more cross pool game to go, it looks like it’s going to be a St Stithians vs St Charles final on Sunday.
