• Saffas Abroad: 46-year-old Tahir stars in GSL final

    Imran Tahir was the standout South African performer abroad over the past week, as the Guyana Amazon Warriors were crowned champions of the Global Super League.

    Former Proteas spinner Imran Tahir took 2-35 in the Guyana Amazon Warriors four-wicket victory against the Hobart Hurricanes.

    Tahir struck again with figures of 2-39, forming a lethal bowling attack alongside Dwaine Pretorius, who took 3-37, in the Warriors’ 32-run win against the Rangpur Riders, in the GSL final.

    T20 Blast

    Joburg-born Germany international Matthew Montgomery scored 47 off 22 balls (nine fours, one six) for Nottinghamshire in a 45-run loss to Worcestershire.

    Montgomery followed up with 2-32 in a four-wicket win against Lancashire.

    Matthew Breetzke continued his top form with another half-century, scoring 52 off 35 deliveries (three fours, four sixes) in Northamptonshire’s nine-wicket defeat to Durham.
