• Saffas Abroad: Breetzke blasts off in England

    Northamptonshire’s Matthew Breetzke and MI New York’s Quinton de Kock were among the standout South African performers overseas this past week.

    Colin Ackermann hit 33 runs off 30 deliveries (two fours) for Durham in their 16-run victory against Derbyshire. Wayne Madsen scored 37 off 33 balls (three fours, one six) for Derbyshire.

    Matthew Breetzke scored 53 off 36 balls (four fours, four sixes) for Northamptonshire in a 10-run win against the Birmingham Bears.

    He followed that with 41 off 36 balls (four fours, two sixes) in Northamptonshire’s 15-run defeat to Durham.

    Former Proteas batsmen Colin Ingram hit 39 runs off 21 deliveries (five fours, two sixes) in Glamorgan’s 40-run victory against Essex, whose Durban-born Luc Benkenstein scored 62 off 32 balls (six fours, four sixes).

    Ingram then made 37 off 21 deliveries (three fours, two sixes) in Glamorgan’s 27-run loss to Sussex and 38 off 28 balls (three sixes) in a 40-run win against Gloucestershire.

    Johannesburg-born Sean Dickson smashed 76 off 36 deliveries (six fours, five sixes) in Somerset’s five-wicket win against Middlesex.

    Lhuan-dre Pretorius hit 44* off 22 balls (six fours, one six) for Hampshire in their drawn match with Middlesex.

    All-rounder Calvin Savage struck 53* off 34 balls (two fours, four sixes) for the Texas Super Kings in a three-run victory against MI New York.

    Former Proteas opener Quinton de Kock hit 63 off 38 deliveries (five fours, three sixes) for MI New York in their three-wicket loss to the San Francisco Unicorns.
