The Proteas move to fourth in the Test rankings thanks to India’s series win against England.
India, who went 4-0 up with an innings and 75 runs in Chennai on Tuesday, went 15 points clear of second-placed Australia after they claimed five points for their series win. This knocked England from tied second to fifth on 101 points, one point behind the Proteas and Pakistan in third and fourth position.
The Proteas, who have experienced a good run of form with consecutive Test series wins against New Zealand and Australia, will look to climb even further by emerging victorious in their home series against Sri Lanka starting on Boxing Day, followed by a series against New Zealand in March.
