The Proteas are set to host eight Test matches in the 2026-27 season.
Temba Bavuma’s team won’t play any Test cricket in South Africa in 2025-26, with the SA20 set to start on Boxing Day.
“It won’t happen again, but it was a tough decision and one that had to be made,” CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki told the Sunday Times.

“We needed to make sure that the SA20 was locked into the calendar. Now that that is the case, negotiations in the future about series in South Africa will occur with those dates clearly known. If you look at next year, the Test programme is packed.”
The Proteas will host Bangladesh (two matches), Australia (three matches) and England (three matches) in the 2026-27 season.
