• Proteas duo to make Test debut

Two players will make their Test debut for the Proteas in the second Test against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, which starts on Sunday.

Lesego Senokwane will open the batting with Tony de Zorzi as Matthew Breetzke misses out.

Senokwane scored 559 runs, including two centuries, for the Free State Knights in last season’s 4-Day Series. The 28-year-old has seven hundreds and eight fifties in 50 first-class matches and was selected for the SA A team that recently toured the West Indies.

Spinners Prenelan Subrayen, on debut, and Senuran Muthusamy come in for the injured Keshav Maharaj and fast bowler Kwena Maphaka.

Subrayen, the 31-year-old KZN Dolphins off-spinner, has taken 242 wickets in 77 first-class matches, including a five-wicket haul in SA A’s victory against West Indies in St Lucia.

All-rounder Wiaan Mulder will captain the team in Maharaj’s absence.

The Proteas won the first Test against Zimbabwe by 328 runs.
