• Proteas’ bowling woes continue

Dale Steyn and Vernon Philander will both miss the ODI series against England, while Kyle Abbott has been ruled out of the first game in Bloemfontein.

Proteas team manager Mohammed Moosajee gave an injury update at the post-match press conference after South Africa beat England by 280 runs at Centurion

‘Steyn is ruled out of the ODIs and Kyle Abbott is ruled out of the first ODI and will be monitored for the rest of the series,’ Moosajee said.

‘Vernon Philander is about two to three weeks away from recovery. He misses the series. Steyn is still receiving therapy, the plan is to take it fortnightly as we want to get him fit for the T20 World Cup.

‘If Dale comes through from this injury, which usually takes 6-10 weeks, he can come back fully fit and ready to play.’

After their heavy workload in the Test series coach Russell Domingo also confirmed that Morne Morkel and Kagiso Rabada, who took 13-144 in the Test, will ‘definitely not play’ in all five ODIs.
