Chris Morris believes the Proteas have the firepower and balance to progress to a second successive T20 World Cup final.
South Africa are unbeaten after two matches at the 10th edition of the tournament, easing past Canada before edging Afghanistan in a dramatic double Super Over thriller in Ahmedabad.
Morris, who featured at the 2016 T20 World Cup in India, says this squad has what’s required to go deep.
“It would not surprise me at all if we go all the way to the final again,” the former Proteas all-rounder told SportsBoom.co.za.
“We’ve definitely got the potential, the match-winners and the experience to do it.
“I think every single person in that team can stand up. We’ve got match-winners from No 1 to No 11.”

He pointed to the contributions of Lungi Ngidi, Kagiso Rabada, Corbin Bosch and Keshav Maharaj, along with a powerful batting unit featuring David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Quinton de Kock, Ryan Rickelton and Dewald Brevis.
“I personally feel it’s a really balanced side. You look through the team and think, if he gets in, he can win the game.”

Having experienced a World Cup in India himself, Morris warned that intensity will be the biggest test.
“In India, it’s intensity from the moment you wake up. The buzz is real,” he said. “The last thing you want is not matching that intensity every single game.
“Whoever handles the big moments and that pressure usually goes all the way.”
