David Miller and Quinton de Kock were among the Proteas players sold at the IPL auction on Tuesday.
Veteran finisher Miller was the first name off the board, with the Delhi Capitals snapping him up at his base price of INR 2 crore (about R3.7-million). The 36-year-old was released by the Lucknow Super Giants after an up-and-down campaign last season, but his reputation as a proven match-winner in the closing overs remains intact following previous stints with the Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings.
De Kock also found a new home, with the Mumbai Indians securing the wicketkeeper-batsman for INR 1 crore (R1.9-million). De Kock, who was released by the Kolkata Knight Riders, smashed a timely 90 off 46 balls for the Proteas in the second T20I against India last week.
Fast bowlers Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi were picked up by the Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals respectively forĀ INR 2 crore (R3.7-million) each.
