• Lee stars as Proteas square series

The Proteas Women welcomed a four-wicket victory over Pakistan in Wednesday’s fourth T20I at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.

The result squared the series two-all ahead of Thursday’s fifth and final T20I at the same venue.

Shabnim Ismail was key in restricting the visitors to a final total of 172 for five. She accounted for the important dismissals of Sidra Ameen and Iram Javed en route to figures of two for 22. Captain Sune Luus ended Nida Dar’s stay.

Dar had threatened to take the contest away from the opposition during a brisk 75 from 37 deliveries, which was lined with eight fours and a trio of sixes. Luus proved expensive across three overs, but relished Dar’s departure.

In reply, the South Africans delighted in Lizelle Lee’s dominance at the top of the order. She gathered 60 from 31, which featured 11 fours. All her runs came during the opening 74 of the pursuit.

Ismail, Luus, Sinalo Jafta, Nadine de Klerk, Tazmin Brits, Chloe Tryon all supported with valuable contributions as triumph arrived with five deliveries to spare. Fatima Sana delivered figures of three for 27, which went in vain.

Lee, who gathered two other half-centuries against the Pakistanis earlier this month, was named the Player of the Match.
