• KXIP scrape past Sunrisers

The Kings XI Punjab made a late comeback to edge past the Sunrisers Hyderabad with a 12-run IPL victory on Saturday.

Batting first, KXIP was unable to fire at the top of the order with captain KL Rahul, opening partner Mandeep Singh and the destructive Chris Gayle failing to deliver their magic.

A half-hearted performance by the KXIP batting unit and some tight bowling by Jason Holder and Rashid Khan restricted Rahul’s men to only 126-7 in their 20 overs.

In reply, the Sunrisers appeared to be cruising with David Warner contributing 35 at the top of the order, while valiant efforts by the middle order had their team cruising at 100-4 with four overs remaining.

But, Chris Jordan and Arshdeep Singh pulled the match back with a stroke of quick wickets, the Sunrisers reeling in the latter overs.

The quality comeback by the KXIP bowlers dismissed the Sunrisers for only 114 to claim their fifth consecutive victory.
