Klaasen, Ngidi debut as SA bowl

Heinrich Klaasen Klaasen, Ngidi debut as SA bowl
    Published on February 7, 2018 | Leave a response

The Proteas have won the toss and opted to bowl in the third ODI against India at Newlands.

India beat South Africa convincingly in Durban and Centurion last week. If India record another win in Cape Town today, they will move into a 3-0 lead and ensure that they cannot lose the six-game series.

The Proteas come into this game without three key players: AB de Villiers, Faf du Plessis, and Quinton de Kock are all unavailable due to injuries.

The loss of De Kock – who injured his hand in the second ODI – has necessitated a change in wicketkeeper. Heinrich Klaasen will make his ODI debut at Newlands today.

PREVIEW: SA vs India (3rd ODI)

Other changes to the Proteas side see Andile Phehlukwayo and Lungi Ngidi included. The latter will be making his ODI debut.

Morne Morkel and Tabraiz Shamsi have been left out.

Meanwhile, India have stuck with the same combination that did the business at Kingsmead and Centurion.

South Africa: 1 Hashim Amla 2 Aiden Markram (c) 3 JP Duminy, 4 Heinrich Klaasen (wk), 5 David Miller, 6 Khaya Zondo, 7 Chris Morris, 8 Andile Phehlukwayo, 9 Kagiso Rabada, 10 Imran Tahir, 11 Lungi Ngidi

India: 1 Rohit Sharma, 2 Shikhar Dhawan, 3 Virat Kohli (c), 4 Ajinkya Rahane, 5 MS Dhoni (wk), 6 Kedar Jadhav, 7 Hardik Pandya, 8 Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 9 Kuldeep Yadav, 10 Jasprit Bumrah, 11 Yuzvendra Chahal
