India wallop Windies to win ODI series

Ravindra Jadeja (L) celebrates with Virat Kohli India wallop Windies to win ODI series
    Published on November 1, 2018 | Leave a response

India thrashed the West Indies by nine wickets, with 211 balls to spare, to claim a 3-1 victory in the five-match ODI series.

India’s left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja took 4-35 in 9.5 overs in a Man of the Match performance to help reduce the West Indies to 104 all out after just 31.5 overs.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Marlon Samuels (24 off 38 balls, three fours, one six), Rovman Powell (16 off 31 balls, one four) and West Indies captain Jason Holder (25 off 33 balls, two fours) were the only West Indies batsmen to reach double figures.

India then made light work of the chase as they reached the 105-run target in 14.5 overs with the loss of just one wicket. Rohit Sharma (63 off 56 balls, five fours, four sixes) and captain Virat Kohli (33 off 29 balls, six fours) – who have both been in sensational form throughout the series – took the team over the line in double-quick time.

Kohli’s performances earned him the Man of the Series accolade as he oversaw India’s sixth successive ODI series victory on home soil.

India and the West Indies will next face off in a three-match T20I series, with the first scheduled for on Sunday in Kolkata.
