Faf du Plessis has expressed his enjoyment of the Proteas captaincy.
The 32-year-old was chosen as interim captain to replace the injured AB de Villiers and has since led South Africa to a Test series win against New Zealand, an ODI whitewash against Australia and a series win against the Aussies Down Under.
‘I’ve always said it. I love captaining. It’s something I really enjoy doing,’ said Du Plessis.
‘It’s important to make sure that with all the stuff we talk about our culture, as a captain you live with that and lead from the front. I am enjoying it at the moment. However long it continues, I will always do it.’
Du Plessis is aiming for a series whitewash with a win in the day-night Test in Adelaide.
‘That’s the mission for us now, we want to do that very badly’, he said. ‘Just like we did in the ODIs, we won’t just rest on our laurels and be happy with 2-1 or even 2-0; we have Australia in a position now where they are under pressure.
‘It’s hard to get Australia in this position, and now that we do, we don’t want to let it go.’
The Proteas will face Australia in the third and final Test in Adelaide on November 24 at 14:00 pm local time and o5:30 SAST.
