Centuries from Rubin and Jordan Hermann, backed by Jordan’s three wickets, powered South Africa A to a seven-wicket win over New Zealand A in Benoni on Monday, clinching the one-day series with a match to spare.
Rubin, who smashed 158* in the opener, followed up with 109 off 98 balls (13 fours, three sixes). Jordan struck an unbeaten 101 off 105 balls (12 fours, two sixes) and claimed 3-20 to secure the Man of the Match award.
The brothers shared a 154-run stand for the second wicket to anchor a chase of 249, after Tshepo Moreki ripped through the New Zealand top order with 4-19 at Willowmoore Park.
Moreki removed Nick Kelly (13) and Bevon Jacobs (nought) to leave the visitors reeling at 34-4, and later dismissed Curtis Heaphy (35) and Ben Lister (three).
The tourists slipped to 98-6 before Zakary Foulkes (52) and Simon Keene (77) staged a 120-run seventh-wicket stand. Jordan ended both innings to restrict New Zealand A to 248 all out.
South Africa A lost Rivaldo Moonsamy (11) early in their reply, but the Hermanns took them to 190-1.
Even though Rubin and captain Marques Ackerman (four) fell soon after, Jordan and Sinethemba Qeshile (19*) eased the hosts home with seven overs to spare.
