Former Proteas batsman Herschelle Gibbs will auction off the Gunn and Moore bat he used during South Africa’s famous 438 game against the Australians in Johannesburg back in 2006.
With SuperSport replaying the full match on tv today, Gibbs took to Twitter to announce that the bat will be up for auction with all proceeds going to Covid-19 relief.
With the Proteas chasing what seemed an impossible total of 435 in 50 overs, the right-hander produced one of the greatest ODI innings of all time by smashing 178 off 111 balls as South Africa pulled off a miracle victory in-front of a capacity Wanderers crowd.
