Kwena Maphaka says Durban’s Super Giants can be “really dangerous” if they build momentum, starting at Kingsmead on Wednesday.
It has been a frustrating campaign for DSG with two of their four matches being abandoned due to the weather. But Maphaka feels that if they can get out on the park, they have enough quality within their ranks to royally entertain Super Giants fans.
“Yeah, I think it’s been pretty difficult with the rain and all the weather around in Durban and in Joburg, unfortunately for us. But I think the main thing for us is just to keep on trying to win and put ourselves in a good position,” the 19-year-old fast bowler said ahead of their match against the Pretoria Capitals.
“They came out in numbers. So, my message to the fans would be just to keep coming out, and we’ll definitely try and put through some really good performances for you guys.
“Momentum is massive in tournaments like this, so if we can get some momentum going into the back end of the tournament, I think we could be really dangerous.”

The Capitals will also be looking to bounce back after a crushing home defeat to Sunrisers Eastern Cape a couple of days ago at Centurion in a bid to stay in the race to the playoffs.
Opener Connor Esterhuizen has called for an improvement in all facets of the game if they are to claim a first win at Kingsmead since the inaugural 2023 season.
“I think our fielding itself needs to improve. And then I think we can be so much better with the bat, with what we’ve got in the shed,” said Esterhuizen. “We can also be better with the ball, so I think just to raise our overall level as a team is needed for the next couple of games.”
