Cape Town is officially “final ready” as the city prepares to host the SA20 showpiece at Newlands on Sunday.
With a sold-out crowd confirmed at the iconic ground, the Mother City will provide the backdrop as the Pretoria Capitals and Sunrisers Eastern Cape go head-to-head for the title at 4:30pm.
All three SA20 finals to date have sold out in record time, cementing the showpiece as one of the must-attend events on the local sporting calendar. This season 4 has continued that trend, with 22 of the 34 matches selling out – the highest number in the competition’s history – underlining the league’s rapid growth and deepening connection with supporters.
The announcement further highlights SA20’s commitment to working closely with host cities to deliver major sporting events that support local communities and generate economic impact.
SA20 league commissioner Graeme Smith said Cape Town was a fitting host for the final, given the city’s rich cricketing heritage and its track record of staging major events.
“The SA20 final has quickly become one of the biggest days on the South African sporting calendar, and the support we’ve seen across all four seasons has been outstanding,” Smith said.
“Cape Town and Newlands have a proud cricketing legacy, and the city has consistently shown how to host world-class events. With every SA20 final sold out to date, we’re expecting another incredible atmosphere to close out the season.”
