The 29-year-old experienced discomfort in his lower back, and subsequent scans revealed a lumbar stress injury.
His replacement for the Bangladesh series will be announced in due course.
Meanwhile, opening batsman Tony de Zorzi underwent an MRI scan on Thursday, which revealed a soft tissue injury of his right knee.
As a precautionary measure, he will be rested for Friday’s ODI against Ireland.
