• Birrell glad to have Bravo and Delport back

Head coach Adrian Birrell is eager to slot batsman Cameron Delport and West Indian Dwayne Bravo straight back into the Paarl Rocks’ playing XI, ahead of Wednesday’s Mzansi Super League clash against the Tshwane Spartans.

Bravo and Delport represented the Rocks at the start of the tournament, but then left for a stint in Sharjah’s T10 League. They have since returned to South Africa.

‘We are very excited to get them back. We need them. Both of them made a good contribution in our first match. We have been in contact with them. They are still very much part of the team,’ IOL quoted Birrell as saying.

The Rocks currently occupy fourth position in the six-team standings after three wins in six attempts. They were impressive in a nine-wicket win over the Durban Heat on Sunday, but Birrell reckons there is room for improvement, regardless.

‘It is something we speak about every single time we are together, and we are coming in with a good attitude every time we start.’
