The Dolphins will meet the Titans in the final of the Ram Slam after their semi-final against the Cobras was washed out.

The Cape franchise would have every right to feel aggrieved: in the league phase, they won five matches; the Dolphins won three.

But the Dolphins took 10 points from five rain-hit matches, and 13 from three wins. The Cobras, who had one ‘no result’, ended on 22.

The difference came from the Dolphins gaining a bonus point against the league leaders, the Titans, in the last match of the series, winning by an impressive 89 runs.

The northern franchise, who had already secured their home semi-final with six wins and a wash-out, rested some top players for the match against the Dolphins.

The rules of the competition are clear:  in the event of a ‘no result’ in the semi-final, the team with the highest number of points at the conclusion of the preliminary round shall proceed to the final.

The Dolphins now travel to Centurion for a final shoot-out on Saturday which could see them crowned Ram Slam champions.

If rain prevents play, Sunday is set as a reserve day. If no play is possible on that day, the title is shared.
