Meet the man who has never lost a white-ball final

Played 10 finals. Won 10. If there is one man guaranteed to win you a one-day or T20 final it is not Virat Kohli.

Indian superstar Kohli did come up trumps once again with a man-of-the-match display in Sunday’s final to secure back-to-back IPL victories for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

But if you are looking for a guarantee of success, look no further than Australian seamer Josh Hazlewood.

The 35-year-old boasts the incredible record of having played in 10 major white-ball finals for different teams and has been on the winning side every single time.

Hazlewood was key in RCB’s latest triumph, starring with figures of 2-37 as they beat Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.

In the process he kept his flawless win record intact.

His remarkable run began in the 2012 Champions League T20 final, when he claimed 3-21 to help the Sydney Sixers beat the Lions in Johannesburg.

At international level, Hazlewood has lifted three global trophies with Australia: winning the 2015 ODI World Cup, the 2021 T20 World Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Flower cements burgeoning IPL legacy

His standout contribution for Australia came in the T20 World Cup final against New Zealand, where he took 3-16 in four overs in the final played in Dubai.

Domestically, he was also part of New South Wales’ successful One-Day Cup campaigns in 2015 and 2021, while helping the Sydney Sixers win the 2020 Big Bash League title.

His franchise success has been equally impressive. Hazlewood claimed 2-29 in Chennai Super Kings’ victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2021 IPL final, before playing a key role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s back-to-back title triumphs in 2025 and 2026.

Across those 10 finals, Hazlewood has taken wickets in eight of them, including producing several match-defining spells.
