Rickelton smashes records in Mumbai masterclass

South Africaโ€™s Ryan Rickelton delivered a masterclass innings for Mumbai Indians on Wednesday, breaking several long-standing records along the way.

The left-hander smashed an unbeaten 123 off just 55 balls at the Wankhede Stadium, registering the highest individual score in Mumbai Indians history.

In doing so, he eclipsed Sri Lankan master blaster Sanath Jayasuriyaโ€™s long-standing 114 not out, set all the way back in 2008.

In the end Rickeltonโ€™s heroics wasnโ€™t enough to secure victory, as compatriot Davey Klaasenโ€™s unbeaten 65 off just 30 balls was enough to see Sunrisers Hyderabad chase down the 244 target with eight balls to spare.

Rickelton, though, was in record-breaking form for his franchise.

His maiden IPL century came in just 44 balls, the fastest for Mumbai, beating the previous mark held by by Jayasuriya and Tilak Varma by a single delivery.

It was a breathtaking display of power and precision, featuring 10 fours and eight sixes.

Despite the defeat which left Mumbai rooted near the bottom of the IPL standings, Rickeltonโ€™s form remains a major positive.

Since December 2025, he has scored three T20 centuries, all in Mumbai Indian colours.

In the SA20, Rickelton starred for MI Cape Town, scoring 113 versus Durbanโ€™s Super Giants and 113 not out against Joburg Super Kings.
