De Kock in as Proteas bat first

The Proteas won the toss and will bat first in the first T20I against Zimbabwe in East London.

The road to ‘Vision 2019’ continues as the Proteas continue their experimental phase with new players in the side.

The return of Proteas captain Faf du Plessis, Quinton de Kock and David Miller means they will get the opportunity to build their form after being rested in the ODI series. Around this body of experience, new players will get the opportunity to showcase their attacking attributes in order to establish whether they fit into the Proteas’ new positive brand.

Du Plessis brought a specialist coin tosser to the toss – JP Duminy – and flipped in the favour of his skipper, who never failed to admit his weakness of winning coin tosses.

Rassie van der Dussen and Gihahn Cloete will both receive their debuts, while the Proteas have given the likes of Christiaan Jonker and Junior Dala further opportunity to prove themselves.
