Australia’s D’Arcy Short smashed 257 off just 148 balls, hitting a remarkable 23 sixes in a domestic one-day game for Western Australia against Queensland on Friday, 28 September.
Short’s innings was the third-highest List A score of all time, behind Ali Brown’s 268 off 160 balls for Surrey in 2002 and Rohit Sharma’s 264 off 173 balls for India against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens in 2014.

Striking at an incredible rate of 173.64, Short contributed 66.4% of his team’s final total of 387. Along with the 23 sixes – the most hit in an ODI so far is 16 – Short also struck 15 fours at the Hurstville Oval in Sydney.
Coming in to bat in the third over at 19-1, which soon became 23-2, Short opened up with a few early fours, but it wasn’t until the 15th over that he hit his first six. His fifty was relatively sedate, coming in 57 balls.
The next fifty was a lot quicker, taking an additional 26 balls as he brought up his century with a six off the 83rd ball he faced. The 150 came up with another six, in 106 balls, and 22 balls later, the 200 was brought up by three consecutive hits over the ropes.
He was finally out in the 46th over, stumped off the bowling of Matthew Kuhnemann.
