Rain ruins SA A ‘dead-rubber’

The final ODI between the England Lions and South Africa A ended in a no result after just five overs of play.

The tourists won the toss and elected to field. Khaya Zondo’s men were seeking a consolation victory over the England Lions having suffered heavy defeats in the two previous matches of the three-match series.

The England Lions made a steady start and reached 28-0 after five overs when the heavens opened and brought a premature end to proceedings.

This marks the third time the side have had a match washed out on their tour of England after their two warm-up matches were also abandoned due to rain.

The team will be hoping for an improvement in both the weather and their performance when they meet the Lions in a one-off Unofficial Test beginning on 21 June.
