Ingram stars in thrilling Glamorgan victory

Colin Ingram scored 142 off 130 balls as Glamorgan won their One Day Cup match at home against Essex by one run.

Just two days after signing a contract extension with Glamorgan, Ingram’s fine knock was the glue that held the Glamorgan innings together. His innings, which included six fours and eight sixes, went a long way towards ensuring that the Welsh side posted a competitive 281-7 in their 50 overs. Every run scored by the former Protea Ingram proved invaluable as his side squeaked home by a single run.

Meanwhile, Marchant de Lange picked up figures of 2-48 with the ball for the home side.

Wayne Madsen was less fortunate, however, as his Derbyshire side went down by 15 runs to Yorkshire, despite his knock of 112. His runs came off 104 balls and included 12 fours and two sixes. Former Dolphins player Daryn Smit’s innings of 77 off 68 balls (seven fours, one six) gave Derbyshire further hope of victory, though they ultimately failed to reach the 350-run target.

Elsewhere, Proteas left-armer Wayne Parnell showed no ill-effects following a heart scare earlier in the week, as he claimed 3-33 in eight overs and contributed 32 off 30 balls (four fours) with the bat to see Kent defeat Middlesex by 46 runs. Performances such as these will provide valuable momentum with the Champions Trophy only weeks away.

Stephen Cook, meanwhile, could not reproduce the form he had shown in his previous match (67 vs Leicestershire), as he fell for just 15. Fortunately for Cook, his opening partner South African-born Keaton Jennings (101 from 106 deliveries), laid the foundation for a 19-run Durham victory over Northamptonshire.

Kolpak recruit Kyle Abbott turned in another consistent performance for Hampshire, picking up 2-46 in 9.2 overs and helping his team to a seven-wicket victory over Gloucestershire.

Finally, David Wiese produced match-winning figures of 4-29 in 9.1 overs and played a cameo of 23 off 17 balls as his Sussex side completed a 95-run victory at home to Surrey.
