The Now Generation

Quinton de Kock is on the cover of the latest edition of SA Cricket magazine, which is now on sale in leading retail outlets.

It’s been a successful second half of the year for the Proteas. A series victory against New Zealand was backed up by a 5-0 ODI hammering of Australia, before beating the Aussies in Tests Down Under for the third time in a row. De Kock’s explosive run-scoring across the formats has been the constant over this scintillating period, and perhaps it’s a bit overdue that he’s cracked the nod for the cover.

After becoming the fastest to 10 ODI centuries against England earlier in the year, the 24-year-old proceeded to blast 178 against the Baggy Greens which set the tone for the whitewash. His form continued in Australia, which prompted high-profile names in the game to draw comparisons between him and legendary wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist.

Our secondary feature is Andile Phehlukwayo, who arguably shone the brightest in the 5-0 hammering, rising above the pressure to be the leading wicket-taker in the series, as well as a match-winning 42 not out in Durban. An injury has threatened his chances of playing against Sri Lanka at the beginning of the year, but he’s set for a long and successful career.
