• Watch: Mulder hits SA's highest Test score

Wiaan Mulder became only the second South African, and first as captain, to score a Test match triple century, against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo.

It was also the second fastest 300 in Test history, coming off 297 balls. India’s Virender Sehwag needed just 278 deliveries to achieve the feat against the Proteas in 2008.

Mulder also broke a 61-year-record to become the youngest Test captain to record a triple hundred. Aged 27 years and 138 days, he surpassed former Australia captain Bob Simpson (28 years and 171 days), who scored 311 against England in Manchester in 1964.

Mulder then went on to break Hashim Amla’s record for highest Test score by a South African (311* at The Oval in 2012) in style.
