• Zimbabwe humiliate SA U19s

South Africa’s U19s suffered an embarrassing eight-wicket defeat to neighbours Zimbabwe in their World Cup Plate Championship semi-final on Monday.

Their performances at the U19 World Cup, where they were supposed to defend the title they won in 2014, has seen them being knocked out at the group stages after losing their first two games against Bangladesh and Namibia respectively.

South Africa were bowled out for 91 on Monday after Zimbabwe won the toss and fielded first. Rivaldo Moonsamy top scored with 32, while tail-enders Luke Philander (15) and Sean Whitehead (14) also managed to reach double figures.

South Africa were in trouble from the outset and went from 11-3 to 60-7 before getting to 91 in 39.5 overs.

Zimbabwe (94-2) chased it down in 22 overs with 168 balls to spare.
