• Ram Slam T20: Preview

We have reached the business end of the Ram Slam T20 Challenge, as the Lions and the Knights compete in the playoff fixture to determine who will be making the trip to Cape Town to face the Cobras in the final, and also claim a coveted spot in the Champions League T20 later this year.

The Lions will have home advantage in this all-to-play-for encounter, after the match earlier between the same two sides was rained out.

    Players to watch:

The Lions will be looking to their big hitting overseas pro in Chris Gayle to get the side off to a fast start, and maybe even take the game away from the Knights like only Gayle can do. The Lions did confirm that although Gayle has been struggling with a back injury, he will push through the pain and be available for selection on Sunday.

Similarly, the Knights have confirmed that Rilee Rossouw will also be available for Sunday, even though he too is struggling with a niggle. Rossouw will be key to getting his team off to a solid start and, hopefully for the Knights, getting them to a winning total against a strong Lions bowling attack.

    Prediction:

This promises to be a great contest between both bat and ball, but I’ll tilt the favour towards the side that chases in this one, as we might see the team setting a target to be too cautious with their approach in the opening stages with the occasion being as big as this one is.
