Stiaan van Zyl will have to wait until the Test series to have another crack at the West Indies attack after the third and final day of the warm-up match was washed out.
The visitors were in complete control going into the final day. They had plenty of runs on the board and just needed to dismiss the SA Invitational XI to claim victory. The result won’t bother the tourists, but they would have liked their bowlers to get a bit more mileage in their legs before the first Test, which will be the next time they step onto the field in a competitive atmosphere.
The three-match Test series starts on 17 December at Centurion and is followed by the Boxing Day Test in Port Elizabeth and the traditional New Year’s Test at Newlands.
