The only way to stop a planter drain is honest and fair selection policies plus coaching and support staff that van manage players properly

Cannot stop them and why should we, they must decide for themselves. There are problems because we are all just human beings. Wishing the guys leaving our very best and all who stay, thank you all so much for playing this wonderful game of cricket. We love it and enjoy watching all of you. So much pleasure over the years!!!!!!!!!! Love cricket.

Well that's going to be a difficult job. First we have a government who has no understanding of exchange rates and secondly they only care about their empowerment agenda.

Try communication with players!!!! While they are in the picture, not once they have told you they are leaving!!!!

Agree, seems like managing them in a typical South African way viz "needs to know" basis

For years we had makhaya and herschell gibbs as players of colour until and mostly was white players (so called deserving to be there but we never won anything) does this mean actually this sport aint for players of colour ? I love cricket but seems like south africa was dominating prior have more players of colour. Springboks problem is keeping too many old players in the team for far too long. Jack white was the only coach who came with a proper plan and build a team tha sustained us for 3 even after the world cup.

My next bet of guys leaving is Chris Morris. Dane villas, and people who are on the fringes of the team.

Aubrey Shisana
Aubrey Shisana

Morris is getting mega bucks at ipl.why would he want to go...those who are going are those useless players who claim to be good but can't even get a an ipl contract

We still be okay with.kolpak because you need to be an international cap before you can be a kolpak player. We don't select many players to be in the proteas team. The biggest threat to sa cricket is obtaining a British passport.

What can one expect??? All the interference from the government, CSA and the anc. Just leave them be and play the game, no matter what color they are! Transformation will happen with time...no need to rush into it.

The only way talent drain will stop is when quotas and transformation is abolished. Natural talent will come through. Black or white. Stop forcing players into teams. That goes for rugby and cricket. I don't see Rabada as a quota player. He is a natural.

Peter Mathonsi

The team is performing and the worry is that nobody blames the likes of inclusion of Rabadas and south Africa needs a different approach to likes of Australia or England

Unathi Molokoza
Unathi Molokoza

My main issue with the quota system is how its implemented. The sports ministry should firstly have decent infrastructure in place in township schools, have good cricket grounds in our townships, get key players to implement the overall CSA systems from ALL primary schools, in line with transformation requirements and then have timeliness on how many township developed players Should be playing competitive cricket for the franchises. I find it laughable when the minister points to Bavuma and Rabada's performances to further strengthen his argument about transformation, when we all know they were developed at Private white schools and played club cricket in the suburbs.

sometimes its better to save ur datas than come here to know township schools

I really don't see this Kolpak as a threat. We really aren't losing our top end players . Honestly players saying these deals are fringe players who play domestic cricket & have decided to cash in on their God given talents. The likes of AB , FAF , KG , De Kock , Themba etc .. They aren't going to take a pay cheque over representing their country . Quota System brigade ? Which player of colour is in the team that doesn't deserve to be in the team . Cause I really don't think there is one .?

how come the quota system only apply for cricket n rugby. there no quota system in soccer y is dat? rugby n cricket up until the quota system. the soccer team ws never no1.

Sindile Gadu

Just a question to the QUOTA BRIGADE........since we are constantly told that so and so left and will be playing for England or NZ. It's always these 2 countries that seem to benefit. Why are they not going to Australia? Is Australian standard low? Do they pay less? Will give them the Benefit of the when it comes to INDIA.... and say its maybe a culture thing. Please guys answer me

I think it's absolutely shocking that we loosing the best players and up coming talent because we have a quota system that will always allow for discrimination in our sport and the world just watches us as if we the biggest idiots that are bound by racially motivated selection rather than our best side.i wish all the white players had to make the move as a statement on how pathetic this country has become

Y would I b angry,I like alot of south Africans used to pride in our nations sport,it was the one thing that we could cling to hope that one day, things would turn, but hey,you seem to think things are better, you must know what you on about.when last did you check the rankings and maybe the state of affairs of the soon to be junk status.clearly the policy has worked

Competent sports minister and boardrooms for all sports. Scrap quotas in general. Better pay for all. And central contracts for the seniors

sack that useless coach and the player will believe. He has favoured his chommies and let real talent slip through the nett. As he does not coach batting, bowling or fielding he should be dealing with players directly. So either he is really bad at dealing with people or he forgot to call Kyle and co back. Either way he is as useful as breasts on a tortoise.

Enrico Hartzenberg

I love when the quota system is blamed, when in fact, the white players leaving the country, were never the best to begin with...Plus, it's not even always about money cause Abbott, for example, admitted that CSA were paying him more or less the same as his English county...Problem is, Abbott is assured of game time over the next four years, whereas,if he stays in SA,he's not assured of game time, cause even as good as he is, he's not better than Rabada,Philander and Steyn.

Enrico Hartzenberg
Enrico Hartzenberg

Marc Mayes,i love how you say you're not racist, and yet you make it pretty obvious your argument is about race. I bet if Rossouw was black, you would have just come up with another white player who you think should be in the team instead...Am I right in saying that????

Marc Mayes
Marc Mayes

No but Roussow is far far better than Bavuma and Duminy

Faried Manuel
Faried Manuel

Actually Rillee and Duminy has the same average in ODI's, around 38 which is ok but not great and Duminy much better in T20's with 38 against Rillee's 28. Duminy has much better utility value with the ball but has definitely not lived up to his promise especially in Tests where he averages 32-33. Rillee just does not seem to have big match temperament at all and does offer real bowling option. That said both got equal opportunities in ODI and T20 with Rillee not finding his way into test cricket, which is not the money game anyway

Faried Manuel
Faried Manuel

With Bavuma it is too early to tell in Tests (32 average) and ODI's (113 average from 1 game) and but he is definitely not a T20 strike batsman

Enrico Hartzenberg
Enrico Hartzenberg

Faried Manuel,i can agree with you on Bavuma, but based on what he's done so far, I can definitely understand why he's getting more opportunities to prove himself,so for Marc Mayes to say Rilee is much better than Bavuma,is a bit far fetched.

Marc Mayes
Marc Mayes

That says it all.... Hahaha again my point is proven.... Thanks for making yourself look like a idiot again Enrico Hartzenberg.... It's becoming a regular thing with you now hey

Enrico Hartzenberg
Enrico Hartzenberg

Marc Mayes, those stats in no way proves Riley is miles better, as you suggests...Fact is, Rilee hasn't been able to cement his place in the team... plus, no need for name calling dumbass...i was actually being nice when I replied to your comment.

Marc Mayes
Marc Mayes

Enrico Hartzenberg because Rilee hasn't got the opportunity to play Test cricket If you know me and follow my posts, and you do the real culprit is Duminy, Duminy should have been dropped along time ago for Rilee, Bavuma I believe is a talented enough player to have made it to the top level even without Quotas, but where I do not agree with it, is when he was given the nod ahead of Roussow, in all fairness bavuma should have been the next in line after Roussow, I don't blame Roussow at all for looking after the himself after cricket South Africa did..... Every players dream is to play Test cricket.... You cannot argue against Roussows stats, he is better than Bavuma and that's not been racist or anything.... Do you honestly believe if bavuma and Roussow were playing in Australia or England or India etc bavuma would have been selected ahead of Roussow??? Be honest.... Bavuma would not have been selected ahead of Roussow...

Marc Mayes
Marc Mayes

Faried Manuel where your argument with Duminy and Roussow is fair.. What you must also remember is that Duminy has made only 4x,100 in 170 odd games Roussow has 3 x100 in only 30 odd games.. . Roussow also has a far better strike rate than Duminy and if you look at the franchise one day record you will notice Duminy has 5 less 100's than Roussow even though Duminy has played nearly 100 games more than Roussow , yes again there average is the same but again Roussow has the higher strike rate.... Duminy is very handy with his off breaks which yes is a advantage over Rilee.... But let's be honest Duminy should be averaging 50 in test cricket not 32.... Some players like Duminy just can't make it to the top level another player that comes to mind is Graham hick....

Faried Manuel
Faried Manuel

Marc Mayes there are plenty of players who have great 1st class careers who never make it at the top level like Mckenzie. That said Rillee never got a chance to play test cricket and the reason for that could be color or just too much talented middle order batsmen batsmen but Bavuma has stepped up when given the opportunity whereas Rillee has shown to have a shaky temperament even in ODI and T20 internationals. Playing test cricket also takes players with solid defense which Bavuma has and Rillee not so much. Attack is a form of defense but test cricket can expose that weakness especially against good spin bowling which is not a strength of Rillee. Again Rillee was part of ODI and T20 squad so his departure is not because he was not part of the squad or given ample time to settle into system and develop. Your argument that Rillee should have been in the squad is a moot point because he was one of the 25 or so contracted Protea players. His struggles just to stay fit and perform adequately in ODI and T20 would have been viewed negatively and taken into account when giving him even more responsibility to play tests as well

Marc Mayes
Marc Mayes

Solid defence with a average of 37 in FC cricket and 31 in test??? Have you heard of a player called David Warner? His best form of defence is attack....... Other than those 4 failures he has actually been one of the most consistent players in the ODI set up, his average would be well over 40 if he never had such a poor start... To actually get his average up to where it is tells you how consistent he has been....

Marc Mayes
Marc Mayes

Answer me this Faried Manuel, if Roussow was black I guarantee you he would have been playing test cricket years ago.... Am I right in saying that????

Marc Mayes
Marc Mayes

Nope if there was a black player averaging 45 in FC cricket over those number of games I would be screaming for him to be in the side Enrico Hartzenberg.... Just like I scream for rabada!!! But you know I'm telling the truth... Dont try make this a racist thing because you loosing the argument

Elvis Mans

That is the truth,Enrico Hartzenberg, they are just spoilt brats.
