• Bangladesh in driving seat

South Africa are 78 runs behind after they dismissed Bangladesh for 326 on day three of the first Test in Chittagong.

The 326 is Bangladesh’s highest ever Test score against South Africa.

It was a frustrating session after lunch for the visitors as Shakib Al Hasan (47) and Liton Das (50) shared a 82-run partnership. Simon Harmer finally broke the partnership after he had Al Hasan caught by JP Duminy.

Mohammad Shahid came to the crease and decided to put the bowlers under pressure by attacking them from the outset. He especially went after Simon Harmer and reached 25 off 19 balls before he was caught in the outfield by Stiaan van Zyl trying to go big.

Shahid’s innings accelerated his team’s lead to 63 and allowed Das to reach his first international Test fifty.

Dale Steyn now needs just one wicket to reach 400 Test scalps after he had Taijul Islam and Mustafizur Rahman caught to end the innings, but not before Hashim Amla dropped Rahman on three in the slip cordon.

South Africa will have to bat well to stay in the Test and patience will be the key for the rest of the day. A good balance between aggressive batting and solid defence will be the key as the Proteas try and run down the deficit as soon as possible.
